3.5" x 8" card by Karen Pedersen |
I'll even tell you how to make this card today, but first I wanted to remind you that when you place a $100 order on my website during August, I will send you a FREE brand new Annual Inspirations Idea Book (over a $6 value, plus what it costs to ship). This book is full of 193 pages of artwork, technique instructions, ideas and beautiful products. I will send your book to you separately from your order.
Now, back to the card and how to make it.
I had fun with paper piecing on this 3.5" x 8" card. I used papers from the Chalk It Up Paper Packet and the Scaredy Cat Paper Packet. I also added a "moon" made of Honey Cardstock.
To paper piece this darling owl like I did, and make this card, just do the following:
- Stamp your owl on the dotted argyle paper from the Scaredy Cat paper packet
- Stamp him again on the staggered orange lined paper from the Scaredy Cat paper packet
- Cut out his tummy and his eye area. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink. Adhere them to your dotted argyle owl.
- Stamp the eyes you want on Colonial White Cardstock and then cut them out and adhere them to your owl
- Cut out the whole owl. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink.
- Cut a 7" x 8" piece of Colonial White Cardstock and fold in half to make a 3.5" x 8" card. Round the edges with a Corner Rounder. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink
- Cut a 3.25" x 7.75" piece of Thistle Cardstock. Round the edges with a Corner Rounder. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink.
- Cut a 3" x 7.5" piece of the black stars paper from the Chalk It Up paper packet. Round the edges with a Corner Rounder. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink.
- Cut a 3" circle from Honey Cardstock. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink.
- Stamp a couple of 'bats' using the stamp in the set that looks like a baby bat wing.
- Draw their heads with your Journaling pen.
- Cut a 1 1/2" x 3" piece of Colonial White Cardstock. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink. Stamp the sentimen "What a Hoot" in it with black ink. Let dry (or heat dry with your Heat Gun).
- Color Hoot with the Golden Yellow and Marigold alcohol markers.
- Cut a 1 3/4" x 3" piece of Sunset Cardstock. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink. Center sentiment piece on top of this and ahere.
- Cut a 2" x 3" piece of Thistle Cardstock. Sponge the edges with a round sponge and black ink. Center sentiment piece on top of this and ahere.
- Tie a small bow with the Thistle Diagonal Striped ribbon.
- Put entire card together as seen in photo.
- Finish off with a few black stars from the Scaredy Cat Assortment.
