Last Week of June...Don't Miss the June Close To My Heart Specials!

Hello, blog followers!  I have been out of town for the past week, just got back a day ago, and leave again tomorrow morning. I'm so excited. It is the Close To My Heart annual convention and this year it's in ORLANDO, FL!  Hello, Mickey! Hello, fun!

Due to my traveling, I have not been able to visit and comment on your blogs like I usually do. Please forgive me. This week will be no different.  When I return next Monday, I'll get back into the blog swing of things.

Before I go (you probably won't be seeing any posts from me while I'm gone), I wanted to share a bit of artwork and remind you of the June specials. Although I will be gone, my website works 24/7 and never sleeps. Yay, Karen's website! Feel free to stop by there any time this week to take advantage of the June specials.

June Specials:

1.  June Stamp of the Month (through June 30):  Here's the set. It's only $5 ($17.95 value) with a $50 purchase.  If you are ordering on my website, and spend the $50 (before shipping and tax), you'll be prompted to add this set before you check out for only $5. I made the card set at the top of the post with this fun set.

2.  Thank You to Benefit Oklahoma (through June 30):  I'm sure you were as affected as I was watching the devastation in Oklahoma caused by 2 weeks of tornadoes last month.  Close To My Heart has created a way to help! They are donating all profits from the sale of this brand new stamp to the Red Cross Efforts toward the Oklahoma tornadoes through June 30. It's only $2.95.  Order #M1029.  Head on over to my site to order. And, yes, that $2.95 does go toward the $50 required to purchase the Stamp of the Month for only $5.  Yay!

3.  Let's Get Patriotic (through July 31):  Celebrate military service and promote patriotism with our new patriotic stamp sets—available only from June 1 to July 31, 2013. Three dollars from each B-size My Acrylix® Courage stamp set and $5 from each D-size My Acrylix® Home of the Brave stamp set will be donated to the USO, the leading, most recognized military-support and services organization in the country. Show your support with your own patriotic stamp set!

With Flag Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day (here in Utah), and more right around the corner, now is the perfect time to celebrate military service and promote patriotism with these three new patriotic stamp sets.

Order them easily on my website with the following numbers (left to right): Home of the Brave (D1576), Strong and Free (Canada set, D1575) and Courage (B1437).

Have a great week! I can't wait to share TONS with you from Convention when I return!

July Play Group Scrappin' Class Layouts (Tommy)

Here are the three 2-page 12" x 12" layouts we will be making in my Play Group classes in July with the Tommy papers (click on any photo to see it larger and in more detail). If you would like to participate, please contact me (801.360.9896, pedermom@aol.com) with your kit order no later than FRIDAY, July 5

You can participate in my Play Group classes in one of three ways:

  1.  Attend a class in person (if you plan to do this, I need your order right away)
  2.  Host one in your home with your friends (and earn free product!). Call or email me to schedule your date (801.360.9896, pedermom@aol.com)
  3.  Participate long distance. Just add $5 to the kit total you see to have your kit shipped directly  from me to you. (call or email me to order your kit: 801.360.9896, pedermom@aol.com)
In person class dates and times:
  • Thursday evening, July 11,  7-10 pm in Pleasant Grove, UT
  • Friday morning, July 12, 10 am - 1 pm in American Fork, UT
I'm confident you will enjoy what we do and be very happy with the projects you make! I had a hard time choosing photos for these layouts because I honestly had SO MANY that would work.  Red and blue are our high school's colors, red and blue look great with just about anything boyish, and I just think red, yellow and blue are perfect Summer or patriotic colors too.

After the layout photos, you'll find the shopping list.  Keep reading...

Layout #1: You Anchor Me Back Down. This was the perfect layout for photos of my honey, Dan-the-Man and I. He truly is my anchor...not in a weigh me down kind of a way, but a keep me grounded kind of way.  We have been through great times in our 28 years together, and we have weathered a few tough times (unemployment for a year and a half).
Layout #1: You Anchor Me Back Down (one 7" x 5" photo and four 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" photos)

Layout #1: with photos.  Photo tip: When using photos from lots of different occasions as I did on this layout, printing then in black and white or sepia helps create a sense of continuity.

Layout #2: Adventure Awaits.  I know the second I saw these papers I was going to do a layout of our grandson, Street.  He is a heart breaker and I knew I had several to die for photos of him in colors that would look great on this layout.  Admit it. He's a cute patootie!
Layout #2: Adventure Awaits (one 9" x 5" photo and three 5" x 3 1/2" photos)

Layout #2: With photos

Layout #3:  On the Go.  This layout was perfect for the photos of Dawson's recent high school graduation. He graduated on May 23 and will be leaving this week, June 19 for his 2 year church mission to Sydney, Australia (speaking Spanish!).  I'd say that qualifies as "on the go."
Layout #3: On the Go (two 6" x 4" photos, one 4" x 6" photo and four 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" photos)

For Always Layouts With Photos

Remember that post way back this morning with the For Always layouts we made in my June Play Group Scrappin' classes?  Well, here those are those layouts WITH photos! Head back to that old post from this morning for details on how to get this kit.
Ummmm, yes we WERE married in the 80's. How did you know?

Seeing these photos of my now 4 year old granddaughter makes me realize how fast time really goes!

It takes a special girl to be a football wife! I know, because I was one! I'm so glad that Easton found the perfect wife for him. They've been married for almost 3 years, and are going to have their first baby next month. We are beyond excited.

June Play Group Scrappin' Class Layouts (For Always)

As you may have noticed in Tuesday's post, things have been a little crazy around here lately.  In fact, I have already held my June Play Group Scrappin' classes but haven't gotten them posted yet. Although these classes are over and you cannot attend them in person at this point, you CAN still order the kits from me to participate on your own.

The good news is that next month's (July, using the fun Tommy papers) Play Group Scrappin' Class layouts will go up on Monday.  Yay!  That means you'll have plenty of time to contact me to order and attend class  in person, or to order to participate long-distance, whichever suits your fancy.

Here's the scoop on the June kits:  These are the three 2-page 12" x 12" layouts we made in my Play Group classes in June (click on any photo to see it larger and in more detail). If you would like to order a long-distance kit to complete on your own, please contact me by Tuesday, June 18. (Karen Pedersen, 801.360.9896, pedermom@aol.com).

After the layout photos, you'll find the shopping list.  Keep reading...

Specials and Special Times

Ummm, HELLO! Where did the time go? How did I let a whole 9 days pass since my last post? I think the answer to that is that in those 9 days, we did the following:
  • Kori and Rick and their 3 kiddos came into town from Chicago to be here for Dawson's farewell
  • We threw a big baby shower for our Daysha
  • Dawson gave his farewell talk at church (and Daysha sang a beautiful song as well)
  • We had about 200 people come over for dinner afterward
  • I taught 2 scrapbooking classes
  • We organized and threw a big luau fund raiser for our youth at church (thank heavens I wasn't in charge of that, just part of the planning and execution)
So, now that I've given you my list of excuses, maybe I should share something fun.  Look out, this post is pretty darn photo heavy since I'm going to share some photos from a few of the events above, as well as some photos and artwork for this month's special with Close To My Heart.

First, let me refer to the photo at the beginning of the post. I made this 6" x 6" card using the beautiful June Stamp of the Month:  A Flowering Bunch.  For every $50 you spend in June, you can one of these sets for only $5 ($17.95 value).

June Stamp of the Month:  A Flowering Bunch (actual size of carrier sheet is 6" x 6")

Detail shot of card.  I did a little paper piecing on the flower and leaves.  After coloring them in with colored pencils, I added some Stardust Glitz Glimmer Gel on top.  I'm kind of like a raccoon that way. I love anything sparkly! Ink and paper colors are Whisper, Black and White Daisy.

Don't forget that there are 3 other specials going right now as well.  You can read about them here. 2 of the 3 specials benefit very worthy causes (the Thank You stamp {only $2.95, order #M1029} gives 100% of it's profits to the Red Cross relief efforts in Oklahoma and the Patriotic sets benefit our armed forces) and all of that can count toward getting a FREE chipboard banner in the third special: Make it a Banner Day! Again, read about all of them here. You can take advantage of all of the special on my website. If you are confused about any of the specials, just click on "Promotions" while you're there for a quick recap.

Now that we've gotten all of the dealios taken care of, if you're still with me, I wanted to share some of my fun activities this week:

Baby Shower Pics. The theme was "Daysha's Little Cupcake":

We took this before the shower. This is Daysha will her family (sisters, aunt, cousin, mom, mother-in-law {that's me} and sister-in-law {Kori}). Everyone here helped with the shower although it was thrown by Kori.  What a great bunch! We TOTALLY forgot to take pics of everyone who attended. There were TONS!
Kori and Daysha. I love my girls!

Kori, Easton and Daysha (the proud parents to be!)
Kori made her very first quilt for this little cupcake. We can't wait to meet her!

The treat table
Cupcakes galore...all made by Kori!
And cakes and cake pops too!

Pictures from Dawson's Farewell Party:

We had people wall to wall, all over the yard at tables and on blankets, and some even found their own spots in the shade. Fun was had by all!

The line to the food. It went out the door and down the street. Craziness!

People having fun in line.

My mom and grandma. Aren't they beautiful.  My grandma (left) is 94 years old!

Dawson getting a hug from his Grandpa Pedersen (Dan the Man's dad)

A little shade. Yay!

Eating in the shade

Daci found her own shade...under a table!
There are SO many more pics of the party and all of the people who came out to show their love for Dawson before he leaves on the 19th for his 2 year church mission to Australia. We are so very grateful.  I thought I'd spare you ALL of the photos! :)

Family Photos:
Lastly, after everyone left, we went down to the duck ponds and took a few family pics. These are just quickies we took on our phones.  The rest we just set up our camera on a tripod with a timer. We haven't had time to edit those yet I thought I'd share a few phone ones anyway...
