December 7th

Are there some dates that you memorized in history class that have stayed with you over the years?  Events that were somehow more to you than a date, but something that you connected to and felt almost a part of?  One of those dates for me is today,  December 7th, the day that Pearl Harbor was bombed.  I have always been so fascinated by this event and have had the good fortune to visit this sacred site several times.  Most recently, this past March, my son, Dawson and I were there.

Dawson's favorite subject in school is history and he was so excited to see Pearl Harbor in person.  He was fascinated to see things in person he had only seen in history books, on television and on the internet.

Today, as I reflect on this important day of American history, I want to say thank you to those brave men and women who were in Pearl Harbor that day.  To those who fought,  many who didn't live past that day, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
