5" x 7" Card Made With Later Sk8r Picture My Life Cards

7" x 5" card by Karen Pedersen using PML cards

As promised on August 1, I will be sharing artwork here and there throughout the month using the Picture My Life (PML) Scrapbooking Programs.  Because I have loads of pictures of boys and sports, the program I tend to use the most is Later Sk8r.  I love this one!  Our PML programs come with 122 cards (44 - 4" x 6" double sided cards and 78 - 3" x 4" double sided cards), as well as 1 designed cover sheet and 10 - 12" x 12" Memory Protectors in various PML card size configurations (see photo a little later in the post).  This month's special is that for each one of our 13 PML programs you purchase, you also get a whole package (10) of Memory Protectors in your choice for only $3 ($9.95 value).  Again, see the photo a bit later in the post.  If ordering on my website, you'll be prompted to add your choice of Memory Protectors before you check out.

Today I'm encouraging you to think outside the box. PML is NOT just for pocket scrapbooking. The cards are great to add to regular pages, make cards with, mini-albums and so much more. I hope to inspire you with a few ideas this month in addition to regular pocket scrapbooking.

We don't do a lot of bike riding as a family, and I don't have any photos of us riding bikes to scrap, so I thought the card with the bicycle would be great to turn into a 5" x 7" greeting card. I used the following PML cards on this greeting card:

4" x 6" card. I  used this as the focal point of my card. You may have noticed that I used my micro tip pen and outlined the bike frame and then shaded a bit with colored pencils to give the bike a bit more depth.
3" x 4" card. I cut out the "amazing" and using it on my greeting card

3" x 4" card. I cut out the center star and used it on my greeting card.

Here are the protectors you can choose from with our special this month:

Here is a detail pic of the card as well as a few tips and tidbits of what I did to create the card. It was faster than fast!

  • Adding a bit of depth to the card by popping a few things up with 3D foam tape is always fun!
  • As I mentioned above, I outlined the bike frame with my trusty Journaling Pen, then shaded a bit with my Watercolor Pencils. Again, this adds depth and visual interest.
  • I added a few Triangle Studs to the top left and bottom right corners of the card. I thought they felt like "motion" like a bicycle.
  • I also found a few random buttons and plopped those puppies down in the middle of the tires.  I added a bit of twine to the centers of those and also around the entire card.
