Shine Bright Card and Football Begins

Many of us (including me!) are really into pocket scrapbooking these days.  I love it!  Close To My Heart's Picture My Life (PML) line is so perfect. I have loved using PML cards to create beautiful scrapbook projects. The thing is, when I'm done, I always have a few cards left.  Hmmm...what to do with them?  How about make greeting cards? This standard (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card was created using 2 left over PML cards, a tad bit of Cocoa Cardstock, a bit of Boardwalk Washi Tape, and a couple of Durables Triangle Studs. The "shine bright" piece was a 3" x 4" card that I just cut the edges off to make about a 2 1/2" x 4" piece. The background was a 4" x 6" card that I cut down to 4" x 5 1/4". I then mounted them on the front of a standard Colonial White card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  Get creative!  Think outside the box and your left over PML cards have endless possibilities!

Check out the products used list at the end of my post, complete with photos and links for your convenience. Quick, easy, and a masculine masterpiece!

I am posting this card today in honor of the first day of Southern Utah Fall Football Camp for our son, Tannon. One month from today we play our first game at Utah State University.  Go, T-Birds! Go, Tannon!  Shine bright, Tannon...and kick some trash while you're at it!

4" x 6" Football Mini-Album with Picture My Life

As you know, there is a great special going on this month with Picture My Life (reminder about it at the bottom of this post).  I thought I'd share another idea using our Picture My Life (PML) cards today.

You know those little cheap-o 4" x 6" photo albums you can buy for a couple of bucks at Walmart, K-mart, Target or any of the bargain stores? Well, they are perfect for an inexpensive mini-album with PML cards!  Our son, Tannon is a college QB at Southern Utah University.  He was so excited to come home from his 2-year mission for our chuch a year and a half ago and fight for the starting spot. He was doing great when a major injury hit. He had to have shoulder surgery this time last year and it put him out for the whole season last year. It also had an affect on his place on the depth chart for this year.  He will not be the starting QB this year and he's pretty bummed.  The good news is he's got several more years (4) and is confident he'll earn the spot in the future.  Tannon has never NOT been the starting QB at any point in his football career so this is a new place to be for him. He's discouraged but also determined to earn his way.

Knowing his mixed emotions, I decided to put together a little book of his football career to this point as well as a little encouraging note from me. This little book came together in a couple of hours.  All I used was cardstock, PML cards (from the Later Sk8r package), White Enamel Stars, the Black Enamel Stars from the Scaredy Cat Assortment, Bakers Twine Neutral Assortment, and Triangle Stud Durables.  There is a supply list with links at the end of this post.

Here are pics of a few of the pages. There are many more that I didn't photograph.  These little books hold quite a lot!

I gave Tannon his book this week and he loved it.  I'm so glad I took a little bit of time to put it together to show him my love for him. Sometimes it only takes a small bit of time to make a big difference!

Now, on to the reminder on how this month's special works. Be sure to take advantage of it by ordering on my website before the end of August.

Our Picture My Life scrapbooking kits are awesome (more info below), and during August, when you purchase one of them, you will receive your choice of one of our 8 Memory Protector 10-packs for only $3 ($9.95 value).

We have 13 beautiful kits to choose from, with themes that fit just about anything that could possibly be happening or have happened in your life. Each kit contains a 12" x 12" cover page to begin your album, 10 coordinating memory protectors,  and 122 double sided cards (in 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" horizontal and vertical designs).  I'll be sharing Picture My Life ideas here and there throughout the month of August, but the photo above gives you a great idea of the traditional way they were designed.  And when you consider all that comes in your kid, at $24.95, that's a serious deal! Add to that the fact that you can get another 10 memory protectors for $3 and that takes your purchase level to $27.95...which is more than half way to the $50 required from me for a FREE catalog. Add an album to that and you're there. Not only that, when you spend $50, you also get the darling August Stamp of the Month for only $5 ($17.95 value).
