"Lyla" Banner by Kori

My daughter, Kori has been busy, busy, busy papercrafting the past few weeks, as evidenced by several of her layouts and projects I have been sharing on my blog lately. Today, I share another! Kori's friend's little girl (Lyla) just turned 1 and Kori made a banner and little scrapbook for her gift. Today I thought I'd share the banner. Lyla's room is done in pinks and black so Kori used those colors on the banner. That way they could hang it in her room after the birthday. Smart! How cute is it anyway?

By the way, you can click on any photo in this post and see it larger and in more detail.

I'm a proud mommy! In addition to papercrafting, Kori is great at making beautiful flowers and headbands for little girls' hair, grown up girls' hair, and even to pin on necklaces and lapels. You can check out her website here. Here's a cute little pic of my daughter and granddaughter. Daci is actually wearing one of Kori's gorgeous headband/flower creations.

Back to the banner: my favorite part is the black and white damask! Kori embossed the damask stamp in black on white cardstock for every banner piece. GORGEOUS! Here are some up-close pictures of each banner piece. The 1" pink satin ribbon is the only thing that is not a Close To My Heart product. I think Kori picked it up at Hobby Lobby.

FALL friend

My sweet friend, Allison B. came by to visit this morning and brought me the cutest gift. This papercrafted 'FALL' accordian table decoration says 'Fall' on the front. On the back each of the panels (each panel is 5" x 7" and is held together with hemp) has a pocket. In each pocket she added a little surprise; typed up talks from some of our church leaders and one of her favorite fall recipes.

Thanks, Allison! You made my day! After just having H1N1 finish a rampage on your family and being pregnant with baby #5, I don't know where you found the time.

I thought you might all enjoy the wonderful recipe Allison shared with me. I think I'll make it tomorrow!

I thought today I would share a layout and a couple of cards that I made several months ago. I just love this paper and stamp set. They were from a promotion that Close To My Heart ran in January 2009. The paper and stamps were called "Key To My Heart". Love it!

A Quick, Easy Mini Book Project

Did you all live through April Fools Day yesterday? I have seen some of the fun jokes you played or that were played on you on many of your blogs. I wish I had thought of some of your pranks myself! Today I thought I'd share a 3 x 3 Mini-Album I made for my son, Easton shortly after he left for his mission. I wanted him to have a small book that he could keep in his suit pocket to look at family whenever he felt a little homesick. He loved it! I made this project in less than 3 hours. I used all Close To My Heart Products: Z1166 3 x 3 Cream Album ($3.95), X7088B Free Spirit Paper Pack ($12.95) {and had TONS left over for other projects}, and various ribbons, buttons, brads and accents. I love how it turned out. These little books have 8 page protectors which means you can make 16-3 x 3 pages. They are perfect to make for a Mother's Day gift, a new mommy with pictures of her new baby, or even for a missionary like I did. I can think of hundreds of great uses for this product.

One Of My All-Time Fav's

Happy April Fools Day. I hope you have not been a fool! Unfortunately I seem to do something foolish every day and don't even need a holiday to celebrate it. Today I decided to share one of my all-time favorite layouts with you (no foolin'). This is my son, Dawson at age 4 (he'll be 15 in a couple of weeks). I just love that little face! I could not find a chipboard heart as large as I wanted, so I made my own. I just cut a heart out of cranberry cardstock, then adhered it to another piece of cranberry cardstock, cut that out, then another, and again and again until I had about 7 layers. Voila! My own chipboard heart. I then stamped it up with some Close To My Heart border stamps to make my own plaid, sponged a little cranberry ink around the edges and I had the exact chipboard heart I had envisioned without having to settle for something else. I think the only non-Close To My Heart products on this layout are the white and red polka dot ribbon and the chipboard swirls. Have a great rest of the day! Let me know if you know any good April Fools jokes for me to play on my teenage boys. I can't think of a thing.

Happy Birthday 2U

Enjoy this Happy Birthday 2U card made exclusively with Close To My Heart products. It's a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (standard) card. To make the glittery chipboard number and letter, I just colored them with my Close To My Heart markers, sprayed with spray mount adhesive and turned them upside down in a little dish filled with Prisma Glitter. Voila! Instant bling. Colors used: Blush, Amethyst, White Daisy, Sweet Leaf. I also used some B&T paper from a few different kits, Dimensional Elements Simple Alphabet and Simple Numbers, and ribbon and accents by Close To My Heart as well. It felt good to 'play' a little today. Whenever I feel a little down, creating is sure to lift my spirits. Plus, 30 minutes to American Idol (think Rain Man). I should be as good as new by the end of the evening between card making and indulging myself with my Idol addiction. Who is YOUR favorite Idol this year?

Display Album Birthday Gift

The other day, my daughter, Kori came over and asked me to help her put together a little Display Album about her new baby, Daci's birth and first month of life to give to her mother-in-law for her birthday. It only took us a couple of hours and look what we came up with (feel free to click on any photo to see it larger)! The book actually has 12 page protectors and the pages are 6" x 6", but I just showed you the cover and 3 of my favorite pages here. As you can see in photo 4 (last photo before the cover photo) the book stands up and the pages flip...perfect for a coffee table or bookcase display. All products used are Close To My Heart and can be bought on my website. Just click there and then on "Shop Online". Products used: Z1054 My Creations Display Album ($7.95), X7046B Elegant Bouquet Level 2 Kit (retired kit), X7046C Elegant Bouquet Stickies (retired stickies), Dimensional Elements Monograms (Z1058-D, Z1055-A, Z1057-C, and Z1063-I. $3.25 Each), Cranberry Accents, Z1134 Love Story Rubons ($9.95), various ribbons.

Hey there, Cupcake!

How stinkin' cute is this? I KNOW! SOOOOO cute! Thanks to my dear friend, Tracey M. (she's pretty darn stinkin' cute herself as you can see in the photo) for this 'delicious treat', a paper crafted cupcake. This was the package I was waiting for on Thursday when I thought that it was Friday (see Friday's post). Now you see why the anticipation. When it was really Friday, the package arrived and did not fail to impress! This gift is actually for my daughter, Kori and her hubby, Rick and their new baby, Daci. Thanks to Tracey (which incidentally rhymes with Daci) for being such a creative and thoughtful friend. I think I must make one of these for myself! What kind of gift card should I attach for me? I think Dear Lizzie should do it! Most supplies are Close To My Heart...another reason this is to die for. Thanks, Trace!
