Daysha's Layout and Scrapbook Sale Still Going Strong

Hey, hey! Before I share my artwork and post today, I wanted to remind you that the "$2, $4, $6 for 8 Scrapbook Sale" is still going STRONG over on my website. Many products are sold out but there are still TONS of beautiful paper packs and matching MyStickease left to buy at out-of-this-world prices. This sale ends on August 11 (or while supplies last) so the sooner you buy the better selection you'll have. Click here to go to my site, then click on "Shop Online" and then choose "$2, $4, $6 for 8 Sale". To read more details about this sale, click here.

Today, I thought I'd share a layout with you that I made for my son, Easton's darling girlfriend, Daysha this week. {Click on any photo to see the layout larger and in more detail} Daysha did a HUGE favor for a friend of mine and I wanted her to know how much I appreciated it. This layout was one that we made in my Play Group classes back in March using the Veranda kit from Close To My Heart. When I saw these photos of Easton and Daysha I knew I had to re-create this layout. The colors and feel of the kit were perfect for these pics.

You'll notice in the close ups that I made a little journaling window under the two smaller pictures on the right side page. I left it blank inside for Daysha to add whatever thoughts and feelings she wants.

Close To My Heart products used: Veranda Level 2 Paper Pack (X7119B), Veranda MyStickease Assortment (X7119C), Filigree Charms (Z1269), Antiqued Copper Mini-Medley (Z1275), Just Blooms Spring Blossom Flowers (Z1266), Brown Stazon Ink (Z1142), 3D Foam Tape (Z1151).

You can any of these items to your "$2, $4, $6 for 8" order today on my website! Have a Fantastic Friday.

March Play Group Pages

Before you know it, March will be here. That means a new month and new Play Group classes. During March we will be using the beautifully elegant Veranda papers to create these three 2-page 12" x 12" layouts. I meant to have photos on these before now, but it just hasn't happened yet (naughty me). I decided instead of continuing to procrastinate showing these pages to you, I'd just have to show them to you without photos, and then again WITH photos when I get them on.

The hold up is that I plan to put some of my wedding photos on these layouts. YES, I am making you feel GREAT! I have been married almost 25 years and have still not scrapped my wedding photos! YIKES! Because I got married in 1985, my photos sat for YEARS in one of those magnetic albums with the horrible glue that eventually eats your photos. My sweet daughter, Kori took my photos out of that album a while ago for me. Now I need to scan them all and re-print them since the originals will probably eventually disintigrate from that awful glue. So, I just have to find an hour or so to sit and scan. An hour is harder to come by than you think...especially while the Olympics are on! I am glued to my TV! GO USA!

Off the subject: What is your favorite Winter Olympic event? I think this time mine has been Short Track Speed Skating. SO EXCITING! I find myself leaning from side to side and holding my breath every race I watch!

Back to Play Group. The dates and times for classes* are:
  • Tuesday, March 9, from 10 am - 1 pm
  • Tuesday, March 9, from 7 - 10 pm
  • Wednesday, March 10 from 10 am - 1 pm
  • Wednesday, March 10 from 7 - 10 pm
*You can also participate long distance. Just email me to find out how (pedermom@aol.com).

As most of you know (and if you don't, look at the Play Group information on the left side of my blog), you are required to purchase the basic kit to attend. You are more than welcome to purchase more than that, but the basic is all that is required. Here are the kits for March:

Creative Basics ROCK!

This is my 2nd post today. Be sure to scroll down for a fun star card.

Have I ever told you about an AWESOME, ROCKIN' product that Close To My Heart carries called Creative Basics? Well, then it's about time I did!

Creative Basics is GREAT for someone who wants to make a lot of cards out of the same papers or even a whole themed scrapbook that coordinates. They include 12 sheets of B&T duos (patterned paper with a backside that is printed also), 6 each of two designs, and a bolt of ribbon (4 yds). The cost is soooooo reasonable ($7.95). Each Idea Book there are 4 new scrapbook kits/paper packs released. There is also a Creative Basics pack released each catalog, and it always coordinates with one of the kits in the catalog. This time (Spring 2010 Idea Book) the Creative Basics (X5809) coordinates with the Veranda kit (X7119A, B and C). I will be showing you a DARLING Mother's Day workshop that I created with the Veranda Creative Basics (X5809) pack and will be holding in April in a few days.

Until then, I thought I'd tide you over by showing you this card. I created it with another of our Creative Basics packs (Emporium - X5806). How cute is this paper and coordinating ribbon? I also used the wonderful sketch from Kazan this week at 2Sketches4You. Thanks, Kazan!

Creative Basics packs are only available while supplies last. There are currently four Creative Basics packs in stock: Emporium, Jingle, Animal Cookies and Veranda.

Click here to order from my website 24/7...because I know you are 'basically creative.'

Bits and Pieces and THE COUNDOWN BEGINS

Bits and Pieces:
I am participating in a swap group called the Humble Artists. We are a small group of Close To My Heart Consultants and I was honored to be invited. I just completed my first swap card but one of the rules of the group is that we can't post our cards on our blogs until they have all been sent out and received by our swap hostess. Darn! So, I decided instead of showing you the whole card (which I will do when the rules allow), I'd just share a couple of bits and pieces of it. That's not breaking the rules, right? I hope not because I really am a certified rule follower (just ask my sometimes exasperated hubby, Dan the Man).

I used the brand new CTMH Veranda papers to make this card. LOVE them...so elegant and soft. I also really love those new Spring Blossom Just Blooms Paper Flowers and the brand new Filigree Charms.

So, I hope you enjoy these little bits and pieces and that they might even just make you look forward to the whole shebang later. I'll even post some of the cards that I get back in this, my very first swap with the Humble Artists. I can't wait to see them myself! I feel like a little girl at Christmas time. I can hardly wait to get them. Isn't it true that it's the small and simple things that make life so much fun?

The Countdown Begins: There is ONE very BIG thing coming up in my life that I have no doubt will be AWESOME! That is the fact that Easton is coming home from his 2 year mission on January 26...that means 20 more days! The countdown begins. Since he is serving in Houston I thought a countdown (like the space shuttles) would be appropriate. We are at 20, Houston. And, we don't have a problem.

Click here to order from my website 24/7...even when you feel a bit like you're going to pieces, or when you're needing something fun an creative to do while you're involved in your own countdown.

Cheating...

Don't worry. There's art in this post. Keep reading...

Today I am cheating. I have had great intentions to create some more art this week with some of the brand new and mouth wateringly gorgeous papers and stamps that just came out in the Close To My Heart Spring 2010 Idea Book (you can view it by clicking on the book on the left side of my blog). But, instead of following up on that great intention, I got involved in all of the bowl games yesterday and just vegged instead. I do not regret it. There was some GREAT football yesterday. I especially enjoyed the LSU/Penn State game in the Capitol One Bowl. Whichever team you were cheering for, you couldn't help but be excited by the ending, the crazy weather and players covered in mud. Man, I love football. In my next life I want to be a ferocious linebacker. I can't imagine more of a rush that hitting someone while using all of my momentum charging full steam ahead.

Back to the cheating. I am doing that today by sharing some GORGEOUS artwork with the four new Close To My Heart kits created by the Close To My Heart art department. Don't worry. It's legal. I have permission. So technically, I guess it's not actually cheating. But, it kind of feels like it. After viewing this you might feel that never again will my artwork measure up. I'll take that chance because I am just dying to show you these great kits.

You can click on any of the artwork photos to see them larger so you can really soak in all of the beautiful details. Also, I have linked each of the products and kits mentioned to their page on my website so you can see them and read about each of them. I hope that will be helpful.

New Kit #1: Topstitch (you probably saw the cards I posted using this kit earlier this week. If not, click here and here). I love the soft, sweet feel of this kit. It would be great for little girl pages and big girl pages alike. Click here to see Topstitch kit options. Close To My Heart colors: Heavenly Blue, Baby Pink, Chocolate, White Daisy. Awesome accessories to match: Soft Suede Pinwheels, Soft Set Eyelets (chocolate and colonial white), and Metal Brad Assortment.

How cute are those suede flowers you can see on the layout? SO CUTE! I also love how they have used a round sponge and a chocolate stamp pad to antique distress the edges of almost everything. It gives everything so much more personality and dimension, don't you think?
-------------------------------

New Kit #2: You Rock. As rockin' as this kit is in this photo, it is even better in person. I did play with this kit a bit this week (but haven't finished those projects) and am so excited about putting photos of my studly boys on this great paper. Click here to see You Rock kit options. Close To My Heart colors: Goldrush, Indian Corn Blue, Olive, Outdoor Denim and Sunflower. Great coordinating accessories: Top Coats Rockin', Remarks Glitter Rubons
You can see the great use of the Rockin' Top Coats on many of the artwork pieces you see here. I love 'em! To see them up close and to read a little bit about of them, be sure to click on them in the section above. Isn't this a perfect teenage boy kit?
----------------------------------------

New Kit #3: Veranda. Did you see "Somewhere in Time"? I loved that movie and this kit makes me feel just like I did when I saw it. I guess if I could describe it in one word I would use 'elegant.' Click here to see the kit options and the artwork below. You'll see what I mean. Close To My Heart colors: Creme Brulee, Cocoa, Juniper and Garden Green. Great add-on accesory ideas: Just Blooms Spring Blossom Paper Flowers, Filigree Charms.
See what I mean about elegant? Again, I love the use of sponges and stamp pads to distress and antique the edges of so much of this artwork. This is something I do on almost everything I make. Don't you just love the clusters of accents they've created in the corner of the layout and on the top card? Clusters are in!
-------------------------------------------

New Kit #4: Caboodle. GREAT for boy pages, girl pages, beach pages, Summer or Spring pages, just about anything! Click here to see Caboodle kit options. Close To My Heart colors: Buttercup, Crystal Blue, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf and Vanilla Cream. Great add-on accessories: Irresistibles Lots of Dots (LOVE this new product. You can see a page I used them on here), Tiny Tabs.
Like I said, one of my favorite new products are the Irresistibles Lots of Dots letters. You can see them used on the layout ("down") and the top card ("play"). These little puppies are white with little raised polka dots. You can color them any color you'd like with marker or a sponge and a stamp pad. The polka dots resist the color and stay white. Brilliant!
----------------------------

I hope you're having a great New Year's weekend. I'm spending today watching Tannon play in a basketball game, watching a few more bowl games, and getting my hair colored (hooray! No more skunk stripe down the middle of my head!).

Click here to order from my website 24/7...whether your ordering new products or some of your old faves.
