December Play Group Scrappin' Class Layouts (White Pines)




The deadline to order your long-distance kits or sign up to attend December classes in person is Saturday, November 14, by 10 pm MT.  Just call or email me to sign up (801.360.9896, pedermom@aol.com).

We'll be making three 2-page 12" x 12" classy holiday layouts with the brand new White Pines paper pack and matching accessories.  These layouts are perfect for holiday photos! 

December Dates and Times to Choose From:

  • Thursday evening, December 3 from 7-10 pm in Pleasant Grove, UT
  • Friday morning, December 4 from 10 am - 1 pm in American Fork, UT
After the layout photos, you'll find the shopping list.  In order to participate, you are only required to purchase the Basic Kit, but you are more than welcome to buy the Better or Best Kits, or to pick and choose from some of those items to add to your Basic Kit.  You'll see the kit totals in the shopping list below. I've also included a products list, complete with photos and links, at the end of this post for your convenience.

Happy New Year Card with Watercolor Wash Technique Instructions



The November Stamp of the Month is great for documenting goals for 2016, as well as wishing someone you love a Happy New Year.  I created this standard size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card with our wonderful watercolor paints and paper.  I just love watercoloring! And, using your watercolors as a wash behind an embossed image is a GREAT way to begin, if you've never really watercolored before. I will give step-by-step instructions below on how I achieved this look, but first let me remind you about how to get this darling stamp set for only $5.

Now, back to the instructions for the Color Wash Watercolor technique:



  1. Be sure to use our watercolor paper. This makes a huge difference in how smoothly the color goes on!
  2. Emboss what you want on the paper first. I used a black pigment pad and clear embossing powder for my black images. 
  3. Use the largest of our watercolor brushes and some water and "paint" the whole piece of the paper you will be washing lightly with water.
  4. Next choose what color of paint you want to work with. As you can see,  I used three different colors: a purple, blue and coral.  I started with the purple.  Wet your brush and pick up your purple paint.  Start at the bottom of the paper and work your way up by going back and forth with the color.  As you move upward, your color will lighten. Be sure the area you start in is where you want the most color. This way you will get more of an ombre feel. You can always go back and add a bit more color if you want a more dramatic look.
  5. I then did the same with my coral color at the top of the paper.
  6. Lastly, I filled in the middle with a hint of blue.
Voila!  Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy...and oh-so-cute!  I've included links below for each of the products I used.

Simply Fundamental Scrapbooking Layout Number One


I used the Simply Fundamental Scrapbooking special kit to create this layout. Easy Peasy! The kit includes a workshop (that I will email you the instructions for once you purchase the special) and all I did was use the cutting guide and instructions to create this layout. The workshop includes everything you need for 5 two-page layouts.  It took me less than 3 hours to cut the papers and put all 5 layouts together! WOO HOO!  I really love how this one turned out!

I'll be sharing one of the layouts, complete with my photos and journaling added, each week in November.  This is the first one.
