My Hero

This boy! I got to talk to him last Sunday for Mother's Day and ask him some details about a little 'blurb' he had put in a letter to us a week before. The letter went something like this, "My companion and I were riding down the street and saw this guy beating a lady up really bad. She was screaming, 'He beat me! He raped me!' I ran over there and took care of business. No more details."

Are you kidding me? Well, you can bet that was the very first thing I asked him about on the phone last Sunday. Details were exactly what I wanted. After me threatening to fly to Galveston and kick his tushie if he didn't fess up and give the rest of the details, he finally told 'the rest of the story.'

The man did have a gun. Easton said he didn't care. He was just trying to save the lady. He punched him and knocked him out and then held him on the ground until the police came. The poor lady was in pretty bad shape and they were able to flag down an ambulance for her that was passing by. He gave his statement to the police and that was the end of that.

How is a mother to feel? Proud of her son for defending another human being who needed his help? Scared to death thinking he could have been shot or even killed? Humbled that Heavenly Father watched over him and blessed him for what he did? Grateful that he was in the right place at the right time? Relieved he is okay? I think all of the above. Saying I was filled with a mixture of emotions is quite the understatement. But I am very proud of my 'little' missionary son and the man that he is.

I love you, E! You are one of my heroes!

That's amazing, Karen! Your son was at the right place, at the right time and the Lord was watching over him. Your son is selfless...God Bless Him as well as you and your husband (and the rest of your children). You guys have obviously done a tremendous job on their upbringing.

Oh may, what a thing to read in a letter and then have to wait for details! You should be very proud of him for being willing to help someone in need. And I'm thankful that he was not hurt in the process.

WOW!!! So glad it all worked out ok...he is truly a hero!!! You must be so proud (and relieved).

I just wanted to answer your question that you left on my blog - the letters on my layout are just part of the Prima paper but they do totally look like our rustic stamps!!

It looks like Heavely Father was certainly watching over your son AND the woman he helped that day! He IS a hero!

Ya know, you should be super duper proud (which I know you are of him) but of yourself! You raised a good man! There aren't many of them in the world these days and what a hero his is!!! Thank the good Lord he wasn't hurt in the process but what an amazing show of his character to put his safety aside to help out another person!!! I'm in awe right now!!

Thank you so much, Christina! I'm not sure if I had a lot to do with it, but I am really proud of the man my son has become.

I enjoyed browsing your blog and will visit often, Karen. Beautiful art! Here's the dilemma...I don't know who is cuter--gramma or granddaughter! And we have a DD whom we call our "missionary daughter"! How awesome are the ways the Lord uses our kids in this crazy world to make it a much better place! We can be so thankful! Blessings to you and yours!
